Let's go back to the sweet poems of childhood. Ones that were memorable and cute. Limericks are structured poems that also contain a rhyme scheme. Limericks have 5 lines and an AABBA rhyme scheme

A limerick is formatted as such:

1. 7-10 syllables: A

2. 7-10 syllables: A

3. 5-7 syllables: B

4. 5-7 syllables: B

5. 7-10 syllables: A

Of course the content to this type of poem does not have to be child-like. Play around with the style and see how it suits you.

Example Poem:

I once went through school like a breeze.

I thought the next step came with ease.

But then the stress came

And tears I couldn't restrain

This is what is takes to get a degree.
